And a very prominent place on the invitation I might add! :-) I'm so excited for you, they are beautiful pieces. I hope you get a couple extras to put with those two pieces. I wish so much I lived closer.
I would love to see the show in person and of course, meet the artists! ( and their Shadows too!)

Thanks for the encouragement! I am excited about it! There are very talented artists in the exhibit and I think it's great I can slip in there. I think it will be good exhibit and the judge will be critquing on Friday, so I am interested in hearing what she has to say.

I'd be interested in any part of the judge's critique that you're comfortable sharing. I'm a big chicken about judges and jurying....which I might need to get over!!

I'm going to change the subject to a more doggie subject.....How Bailey became a water dog.

When we first got him (as a 12 week old pup), he wasn't very interested in water. We had to encourage him at first...we just felt he would love it so we took him wading.

He started liking it more because our other dog at the time, Kodi, and Bailey's best friend Hobbes both are dogs who like to actually swim.

Eventually he figured out that when he gets wet when we go for walks he's cooler. When he can't find water when we walk, he definitely goes slower. Lucky for him that our favorite 4 mile walk has 9 different pools, streams or swamps that he can cool off in.

He still doesn't like to get in past his shoulders. He can swim, but he doesn't do it very often, and almost never on purpose.

We do use a "go swim" command which he knows means he should go into the water then come back. It's mostly useful if we're near clean water and we want him to get cleaned off a little before jumping back in the car for example.

I'm sure Shadow, being a southern lab, will come to love water in short order if you want her to. Wading with her, or taking her to where other dogs play in water is a great start!

Well good grief, this is right in my neck of the woods. Congrats on your piece making the cover!

Leigh - scary how small the world can be isn't it??? You'll just have to come by the exhibition sometime this fall!

Sue - thanks for the info on Bailey. I'm sure it will take some encouragement. he hasn't experienced it before. I am though glad that he doesn't have this natural urge to roll in mud that I've heard about with other labs. Then again, he loves pungent smells - like the rosemary in the backyard and the febreeze when I sprayed it on the carpet. He rolled in both immediately. So that natural urge could be encouraged with certain things....
