Handbags for Hope 2009

This isn't my piece - nor is it weaving - but I had to just point out that Laura Aiken - who recently taught me in mosaics - donated a mosaic handbag for the local auction to raise money for the South Carolina Ovarian Cancer Foundation. Her piece was featured in the Greenville News this morning!!! Great job Laura!

That is an amazing bag. I never would have thought of something so clever.

That bag is so cool! I wonder how much it weighs! (Of course, I really should go to Laura's blog to find out!!)

I don't know how much it weighs, but I do know that she starts with a wooden handbag that she then decorates with the mosaic. That shouldn't be too bag - considering the totebag I carry with my laptop in it!!!

ya'll are so sweet!.. Thank you for posting this Jennifer. It really doesn't weigh much maybe 3 lbs. I only did the front in mosaic the back is in stamping with yellow. I think I have the photo somewhere "safe"
